03 · Long-term portfolio

A written allocation, held to its ranges

My taxable account and Roth IRA follow the same construction, so they're shown here as one long-term portfolio. A broad-market core, a dividend/quality tilt, international and extended-market diversification, and four individual positions, each with a target weight, an allowed range and a stated role.

Percentages only. No account values, share counts or cost basis are published. Synced automatically from my portfolio tracker, last updated Oct 14, 2026.

Time-weighted from daily holdings: each day's return uses the weights held at the start of the day, so deposits never count as performance. Price return; dividends excluded. Indexed to $100 so it can be compared without revealing portfolio size.

How I got here

From picking stocks to deciding the portfolio first

Before this framework, I invested mostly through individual positions, some of them speculative. That period produced meaningful winners and meaningful losers, and it's the starting point for the approach I use now.

The shift was from picking positions one at a time to deciding the portfolio first: a broad-market core, explicit target weights, allowed ranges, and a written reason for anything held individually.

Long-term portfolio results and the options journal are tracked separately and never combined.
